The LANGUAGECERT General SELT is approved by the UK Home Office and covers all four skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
From 6 July 2025, LANGUAGECERT replaced its previous ESOLSELT 4-skills test with two new tests: Academic SELT and General SELT. The General SELT is the relevant route for most immigration applicants.
Results are valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
Exam format
4-skill test covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Delivered at approved test centres across the UK.
Important: test name change (July 2025)
If you previously held an ESOLSELT 4-skills result, it remains valid for 2 years from issue. New applicants should book the General SELT.
